[September 10, 2017, Dhaka]- eGeneration Ltd., one of the leading management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company in Bangladesh has organized a seminar about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its prospect in Bangladesh with the title ‘Artificial Intelligence: The Next Big Thing in Bangladesh.’ The seminar kicked off on September 11, 2017 at Janata Tower Software and Technology Park. Shameem Ahsan, Chairman of eGeneration group, chaired the seminar.
Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, President BASIS; Mr. SM Ashraful Islam, Executive Vice Chairman of eGeneration Group and former Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC); Mr. Shehzad Noor Taus; Dr. M. Kaykobad, Professor of BUET; Prof. Dr. Md. Monirul Islam CSE, BUET; Professor Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, UIU; Mr. Munir Hasan from Prothom Alo Youth Forum, talked about the prospects of AI in Bangladesh. The keynote speakers portrayed the diverse opportunities of the AI technologies and the ways it can be put to use in different sectors, transform our lives for better, transform how teams work, increase the productivity of every department to name a few.
Globally, machine learning is at the core of almost every current tech company’s narrow AI programs. Mr. Shameem Ahsan included of such AI programs by global tech giants including Siri of Apple; Alexa, from Amazon; Cortana of Microsoft and the all-new advanced Google Assistant. Mr. Shameem Ahsan also mentioned, “AI technologies can be put to use in different sectors. For instance, In Bangladesh, it has vast prospects in transforming health and agriculture industries amongst others. Moreover, many talented young Bangladeshis are working on solving variety of problems by using AI technologies. From eGeneration, we have that vision of implementing such effective technologies like AI in a broader way.”
The important insights that came out from the discussion were very prophesying, as Artificial intelligence has become a core ingredient in many of the tools, apps, gadgets, and services that we all use each day to make life easier. In addition, it is transforming how we do businesses too. Recent AI research from Forrester shows that 58% of businesses have considered AI technologies, but only 12% are actually using these systems, leaving a huge opportunity for early adopters to pull ahead of their competitors.
